Ten Things of Thankful – Highlights

Thankful in spite of, because of.

I had a fun and happy week in spite of four consecutive, when’s it gonna stop?, rainy days.  Don’t mind my complaining about the weather.  It beats complaining about politics which is so much more upsetting these days.

I’m thankful in spite of, because of . . . .

A week or so ago, Cobee turned 7.  He got to share his puppy cake with his new little sister.

The family got together to celebrate the matriarch’s (otherwise known as Nanny) 90th birthday.

A Taste of Spring:

Two beautiful sunny and warm days before the rain came.

Outings With Friends

Monday the Zumba girls got together for an early lunch after class.

A friend and I attended the NJ Flower and Garden Show in an effort to indulge in some spring preview.

A Rubik’s Cube with yellow, orange and red flowers.
A display of bonsai trees for sale.
An award winning yellow orchid.
A water feature surrounded by colorful tulips and hyacinths.

Lots of spring bulbs and outdoor gardens were set up indoors.  There were show-winning flowers and related and unrelated vendors.  It was fun to browse.

We ended with a meal (and then some) at a famous nearby deli.

We ordered one sandwich to share.  We had heard of their large portions.  There was enough to make 5 sandwiches.  Did we save room for dessert?  Impossible.

Good Health

Eye doctor visit this week.  No changes – still 20/20.

  1. The photos of the garden show are great. That rubics cube planter is quite unique. 😉
What a great celebrating time for Nanny, and that the family could be with her that day.
I think there are some days when it is necessary to create one’s own sunshine even when the sun is shining, if you know what I mean.
Sorry you are having so many rainy dull days. Maybe it is time to have some unbirthday celebrations. Light a few more candles to brighten the dull days. 🙂

  2. I love the look of your blog, Val, and all these lovely pictures were reasons to smile… definitely thankfuls! It is awesome that Cobee had a birthday celebration, I hope that he and his little sister Aubree get to share many years of love and play! She just gets cuter and cuter with each passing month!

A 90th Birthday is also a wonderful thing to be able to celebrate! Papa Bear’s great aunt, and only surviving member of previous generations, will turn 99 next week!

I can’t believe you had two days in the seventies! We’ve only had a few that warm here, but I wish I could send you some of our 60’s sunshine to melt that snow for good! Attending the garden show definitely would initiate Spring Fever, what a fun idea to beat the winter blahs! Lunch out with friends is always great fun, and that sandwich (for 5) was amazing! 🙂

All that working hard to take good care of your body is paying off with healthy reports, and I know you are grateful for that, keep it up! I agree with you about creating your own sunshine too, attitude is everything, and we can always find reasons to smile and be happy if we want to! Have a great week ahead Val, and thank you for sharing a TToT link button on your posts! XOXO
