Listicle – 10 Things – Guilty Pleasures

Ten things that are better than anything –  except being in love.

When I thought about the things in my life that are better than anything, I thought of things like my granddaughter sleeping curled up in a bundle on my shoulder, the good feeling of giving to the important people in your life, doing good deed or works for strangers, or the feeling of security with your spouse of 33 years.    All these equate to great love which is better than anything.

So here is my list of things that are better than anything except being in love.  My guilty pleasures.  The preference order changes daily, hourly.

  1. Coffee – dark roast, early morning joy.

2.  Chocolate – Ghiradelli, please.

3.  Wine – red with (see above).

4.  Just the perfect shoes for the outfit.

5.  A great book that wrenches your emotions and gets inside your mind.  I most recently read A Gentleman In Moscow by Armor Towles.  A book to savor.

6.  Uncontrollable laughing, when you and your sister (Lucy and Ethel) embark on an adventure or a project that usually ends up in raucous, breathless, laughter.

7.  Binge watching an historical series – Downton Abbey, Last Tango in Halifax, Call the Midwife – I do like my English drama.

8.  Seeing a number I like on the scale somehow lifts my spirits and for the day.

9 and 10.  A day at the beach.

  1. Loooooooove Ghiradelli! They are so dangerous that I’d rather pay for one square than buy a whole bag. The Last Tango in Halifax, I hadn’t heard anyone mention that one, I was wondering if I’d been the only one to watch. Wasn’t it just so good! I like English Dramas too. Check out Broadchurch if you haven’t already. And I’ll check out your book recommendation.

    1. Kenya, Last Tango was filmed in and around Hebden Bridge from where my ancestors come. It was so good. Towle has another good book, too. Rules of Civility. Check that one out !

  2. Chocolate is always on my list, Lindor Truffles are to die for! I really think the beach would be my number one though, because of the tremendous feeling of peace it brings! A good number on the scale is wonderfully uplifting, and you had me recalling the last time my younger sister and I got into a fit of laughter, and how much fun that was. I wish my sisters lived closer. This was a great list! XO

  3. Yes to chocolate and a day on the beach. Although I usually don’t combine them. Melted chocolate isn’t as much fun to eat. There is something about the colors, smell, and sound of the beach that brings such peace to my soul.

  4. A day at the beach, always, always. And red wine. And a good book. I’m not a huge chocolate person but do occasionally really enjoy it. I need to get with the program because the number on my scale these days isn’t the one I’d like! So glad you linked up, Val!

  5. definitely oceans and beaches are in the running for ‘the favorite among favorites’… not that a person could feel otherwise. (this being said, I did not specifically mention the ocean in my post, but there ain’t nothing like it. as you fully-well know :]
